I started a new project. I'm getting major side eye from the stack of blocks waiting to be made into things, the Tilda Embroidery Flower on my design wall, the quilts waiting to be bound. But I still started a new project ;)
I succumbed to the lure of Fire Glow. That was a slippery slope my friend. At first I was like, nahhh I don't need new fabric! Haven't we all told ourselves that lie many a time? Then I started seeing projects made with it. I debated getting a FQ bundle. I consulted my external conscience (my judgemental teenage daughter who always tells it to me straight). She reviewed the fabric and all of the facts, and surprisingly gave me the go ahead. So fabric was ordered. Side note: For those chasing Fire Glow in Australia, highly recommend Vicki's shop Angie and Coco as she is stocking the full range.
I've also had this idea in my brain for awhile for a book pattern. Yes another one. But it was this little idea that just wouldn't go away. Pair that idea with the now-permitted fabric purchase and... โ I started a new project.

I couldn't resist this idea of a fussycut frame on the front of a book. I have a plan for a whole quilt of these books but more on that soon. I'm sewing them up and just having the loveliest time seeing these Fire Glow prints come to life in fabric. Imagine how perfect this paper pieced pattern would be for all kinds of fabric prints to tell a story!

One of my lovely longtime pattern testers Lisa makes the most beautiful projects where she incorporates the blocks she's tested for me into various projects. She's made quilts, table runners, pot holders, wallhangings and now this... a beautiful bag! I just had to share because it's giving me major bag envy!

Our July flower has arrived in a Year of Flowers - this month is the water lily! Just like birth stones, each month has its own flower with a beautiful meaning behind it. The water lily stands for beauty, enlightenment and resilience.
We're sewing a flower a month so by the end of the year we can create a beautiful wreath of flowers. While we're halfway through, it's still open to join! You can play catchup or stash the patterns away for a rainy day.

It's a very busy few weeks ahead here at Quiet Play HQ with getting ready for our retreat on Norfolk Island, preparing for when my son enlists in the Australian Army and mid year school holidays approaching. But you can be guaranteed I'm going to find a little time to keep sewing those Fire Glow books. I may be a little obsessed. It was such a wonderful retreat, and we loved having extra tours and sightseeing mixed in to our sewing time. In fact, Ange (from GnomeAngel) and I enjoyed it so much, we're planning to do it again next year!
