Hey Reader!

Hard to believe our little jaunt to Norfolk Island for a quilt retreat was nearly 3 weeks ago! I still haven't become accustomed to having to cook dinner every night, or not having anyone to chat to while I sew (although gosh do I get a lot more done when I'm not yapping at anyone in the vicinity!).

I'm also bemoaning the fact I don't have stunning coastal backdrops for my quilt photos. I shared a couple of Moonlit Stroll last newsletter, but I mean here, look at these two for comparison. Who wore it better? Left: my design wall, or Right: Norfolk Island. Is there even a comparison? I think not.

In case you missed it last week, and have been thinking you need to create your own Moonlit Stroll, I've extended the discount. Just pop in the discount code norfolk at the checkout to save.

Now I need to resign myself to thinking about what to cook for dinner, fossicking for my own morning tea and seeing if I can coax the work colleagues (Harlow the sheepadoodle and Violet the ragdoll cat) into a conversation with me.

At least I can chat quilty stuff with you, my quilty friend! Let's crack on with some FPP fun for this newsletter.

Chooks!

Some of you may know I'm a bit of a crazy chicken lady. We have a coop of Star Wars named chickens who delight and amuse us every day. We have 3 silkies and 1 polish - Anihen Skywalker, Obi Hen Kenobi, C3Peep0, and Queen Henidala. Chicken tax (a fave pic!):

Given this poultry love, I figured it was time for a new chicken pattern! In Make Mine Mini, our August patterns are all about the chooks. While they aren't silkie chickens, they are still cute!

We have the main pattern featuring a happy chook amongst a reath of eggs, and a companion pattern of a little chicken hatching. Stitch these up and you can decide for yourself - which came first - chicken or egg?

Join us in Make Mine Mini and these are yours to sew and love straightaway! Not only do you get brand new patterns every month, you get a bunch of additional membership goodies like...

  • discounts to the shop
  • secret squirrels shop of unreleased patterns
  • extra videos and guidance
  • a full not-otherwise-available cursive script alphabet pattern
  • an amazing, supportive community!

New to the shop!

There's a new pattern added to the shop - featuring a happy little panda amongst a bunch of bamboo! Previously released in Make Mine Mini last year, it's now available in the main shop for the panda lovers!

This cutie is available in three sizes - 15", 16" and 18". You get all three sizes when you buy the pattern so you can choose which one you want to make.

Like to see how he looks in different colours? Check out these cute pandas pieced by Wendy and Lisa!

Can we talk about Halloween?

I know, I know, it's only just August and you might not be ready to talk about Halloween just yet. However, the stuff I'm seeing pop up in my feed suggests that some of you might be already thinking ahead.

In which case, you might like to nab this fun and FREE little ghostie pattern to stitch ahead of time! It's more cutesy, less spooky, and so much fun to pick out the fabrics!

The pattern is all foundation paper pieced and measures 6" square. Sign up to get it for free (and maybe tell your pals to go sign up so you can stitch together!).

Plus if you want a lil video tutorial on how to make it, I've popped one over on YouTube.

I've been working on something a little fun behind the scenes - and while I can't share it til next newsletter, let's just say that working with fellow FPP designers is one of my favourite things. We've been stitching up something fun and I think you're going to love it.

In the meantime, I'm off to rip paper off some blocks (you can find my best tips for that here) and get some sewing done!

Wishing you a week full of fabric, fun and foundation piecing!

Happy sewing!

P.S. If your friends wanna sew some ghosts, forward them this email or the link to sign up!

Click here to view this email in your web browser Hey Reader! I'm settling back into routine after our recent trip to Norfolk island. It was such a wonderful retreat, and we loved having extra tours and sightseeing mixed in to our sewing time. In fact, Ange (from GnomeAngel) and I enjoyed it so much, we're planning to do it again next year! The island is such a beautiful community - everyone waves as you pass them driving, cows have right of way, chickens wander freely, tourists are welcomed...
