I have a quilt top to share with you! Alas, this is not the announcement that the pattern is ready but it's one step closer! I've been having the loveliest time fussycutting dragons, adding selvedges, and creating a whole bunch of books in a couple of sizes to make the perfect reading quilt.
And here it is!

I'm calling it Book Binder - because the pattern calls for the making of books ;) I'm absolutely enamoured with the Fire Glow fabric line. The colours, the prints, the metallics, it's all beautiful. This pattern has been the perfect one to show them off.
While the paper pieced pattern for Book Binder isn't quite yet ready, you can join the waitlist. That means you'll be first to know when it is released - and you can get a lil waitlister discount for your trouble.
Those who follow me on Instagram may have also seen a little sneak peek of the quilting I've chosen for this quilt. I found that Sarah Watts, who designed Fire Glow, had also designed a dragon themed E2E pattern. Clearly there was no other option but to get it and use it for the quilting.

Now I'm at the finishing stages of this quilt - I just have to find somewhere to take photos of it. I'm thinking maybe the library? But I am absolutely open to suggestions!

Quiet Playβs foundation paper piecing patterns are some of the cutest out there. Every block feels thoughtful, creative, and just plain fun to sew.

I know, I know, I've been most slack in sharing a recent chicken photo. So I have not one, but two to share with you today. Technically it's the same scene, just from a different angle. But do look at the cuteness of Obi Hen Kenobi and Anahen Skywalker snuggled up together. They have dug out one particular part of the coop into the ultimate dust bath and fight over who gets to sit in it. This time, they agreed to share.
It's a very busy week here as we have the final packing and organising for my boy to leave home and join the army next week! It's going to be a big change in our lil household and I'm going to miss him terribly. I'll be trading some of my sewing time to write him letters as phone contact is very minimal for the next few months. As a typical 18 year old boy, I don't expect much back but but he'll know that we're thinking of him! Then shortly after the big enlistment ceremony, I'm off to Norfolk Island on retreat with Ange of GnomeAngel and a bunch of awesome quilters. Couldn't think of a better distraction for this sad mama!
Off to get packing - one suitcase full of neutral coloured practical gear suitable for basic training, and another full of rainbow and sewing supplies suitable for a quilting retreat. If that doesn't sum up parenting, I don't know what does ;) Just gotta hope we don't mix those suitcases up ;)
Before these big events though, I'll be getting that Book Binder pattern out into the world. So if you know you want it, make sure you're on the waitlist!

It was such a wonderful retreat, and we loved having extra tours and sightseeing mixed in to our sewing time.
