When I designed the Year of Flowers quilt, initially I thought it was perfect for a wallhanging. And at 20" square, it totally is - but I also wanted to make it more practical as a throw quilt. Throw in the added incentive of now having a longarm, I was keen to try out an E2E design on a bigger quilt. Purely as part of my learning, naturally ;) While I had made a wallhanging with my usual straight line quilting, turning the wreath block into a throw quilt and finishing it with a cherry blossom all-over quilt design? It made my quilty heart sing.

I really love how this turned out, and I'd kinda like to make another on a green background, or maybe a low volume print, or maybe bright pink. So many options, not enough time! However I could totally live vicarously through you if you'd like to make your own version with different fabrics!

Stocking The Pantry

With a new month, that means new patterns! And our next pattern installment has arrived to The Pantry! In June we're sewing a tin with a round label. This is my version with a carrot added to the centre.

The Pantry is the ultimate mix and match quilt, so when you join us for this fun Block of the Month, you get a different shape container, and 2-3 fruit and veges each month to mix and match. For June, there's a cob of corn and a peach! But you'll also get the other patterns released so far so you can start mixing and matching to your hearts content!

By the end of six months you can create the perfect picnic quilt, or a fun little table runner. Maybe you can make a bunch of cute totes to take to the Farmer's Market. So many choices - but for now you just need to make one. Decide to join The Pantry and then figure out where you'll start first!

New to the shop!

Blissful Books was one of the most popular patterns from Make Mine Mini in 2025, and it's now in the shop in case you missed it last year! A stack of books, some sweet flowers, and a cuppa, what more could you want for a blissful afternoon?

This foundation pieced pattern comes in three sizes - 15", 16" and 18". It's perfect to use those fave fabrics and add a little fussycutting. I turned my block into a cushion ready to use for a cozy afternoon of reading!

Ange of GnomeAngel and I have been ticking off the days until the Fussycutters Patchwork retreat and it's one month from today! That means there's lots of excitement, planning and scheming happening behind the scenes. All good things, of course!

If you've been itching for some stitching on a magical island getaway, we convinced the travel agent to let us open up a last couple of spots. But be quick, it'll be time to start packing before you know it!

It's a rather busy month ahead here with getting ready for the retreat to Norfolk Island, plus a big life event happening in my lil family. My son is joining the Australian Army and headed to Boot Camp in less than four weeks. It's a big deal for this proud mama getting ready to send her boy off into the world - not to mention to have little contact barring one phone call a week for the next 5 months. It's bittersweet but I am so excited for him to have this amazing new chapter starting.

When I get back from Norfolk Island, there's going to be a big 18yo-son-sized gap in my life that I'll need to fill! I suspect there will be lots of designing and sewing ahead for me by way of distraction! Maybe it's finally time to make a chicken quilt...
