🌈 Rainbow Ramblings βœ‚οΈπŸ”

Hey Reader!

It has been busy, busy, busy around QP HQ! Secret sewing, designing new patterns, ticking off the days til I can sew with my new Featherweight, and of course, playing with fabric. So all that amounts to is... I have a whole bunch to share with you this newsletter so without further preamble, I'm going to dive on in!

Let's start with some cute little cluckers!

You may or may not know that I"m a bit of a crazy chicken lady. So it's quite surprising that I haven't designed more chicken patterns. But I did start to remedy that with our patterns that are out in Make Mine Mini this month. You've seen my versions, but I have to share these amazing ones from our Make Mine Mini members - because look how cute these chooks look in different fabrics and colours!

Cute pillow is by Susie, the potholder by Kay, mini quilt by Carmen, and the project bag is by Amanda. I absolutely adore all of these!

I love that they are a variety of finished projects too - proving that chickens are useful in all sorts of ways, right? ;) It also realllly makes me want to go make a chicken quilt and add in a cute speckled hen like Kay's!

If these chickens are making you feel a bit clucky to do your own stitching, join us in Make Mine Mini! Be quick though, they're only here for August!

It's a monthly membership where you get new patterns to love and sew every month, starting with these chooks, plus a bunch of other goodies and benefits. Click the button and sign on up!

Are you joining us in the Sewing Room?

Our fun and free sewing themed event has started, and everyone's invited! If you haven't joined us yet, it's not too late. Patterns have already started sending out, but you'll be able to catch up on any that you have missed - but you gotta sign up before the 28th August. By then it -will- be too late!

The blocks are all foundation paper pieced, each measure 10" square, and they are all free! Brought to you by nine fantastic FPP designers, this is a great way to find some new-to-you designers and stitch up beautiful blocks at the same time!

Botanical Beauties

This is something pretty and planty that just might appeal to you! I joined with 15 other designers to create a beautiful sampler quilt with a botanical theme. It's available now for pre-orders but it's for a limited time only.

With 16 different designers, there's a huge range of techniques and designs - all put together into a bright and bold quilt. Look how pretty this is!

What will you get in the sampler?

  • 16 unique botanical-inspired blocks, each measuring 15" square and fully tested and tech-edited from a different fabulous designer
  • The blocks are rated confident beginner up to intermediate and are excellent skill builders - applique, FPP, curves, and many more techniques are used for construction.
  • Purchase includes all (16) blocks plus fabric requirements & finishing instructions to make a throw quilt, both with sashing and without.

The sampler patterns will be available starting September 16th, but pre-orders are open now. The last day the sampler will be available is September 30th. So if this sounds like something you might like, don't dilly dally, pre-order now!

A Quilty Escape

I've shared previously about our adventures on Norfolk Island on our retreat last month (was it really just last month?!). But now my co-host and best bud, Ange of Gnome Angel has written a blog post about our adventures and you've got to have a read.

Be warned, while reading you'll find lots of laughs, a bunch of photos, and perhaps even the temptation to join us on our next retreat!

We are planning to go back again in July of 2027. Norfolk Island is such a beautiful part of the world - and what better than to combine some quilty fun with a holiday! We'd love for you to join us. If you'd like to be first to know more, jump on the waitlist.

Fun Finds

Need a lil more quilty inspiration? Let me add to that by sharing some of the fun finds I've come across in my internet travels.

The Gentle Stitcher's Companion

The Gentle Stitcher’s Companion is a collaboration between Leela of @the_makers_stash and Lauren of @mollyandmama.

In their words, 'Think of it as a little creative escape to dip into whenever you need some inspiration: beautiful stitching projects, inspiring makers, gentle garden notes, recipes, stories and plenty of pretty things to savour.'

Playdate from Sewspicious

Vickie from Sewspicious has released a new pattern that you'll love!

A fun, beginner-friendly design written with Jelly Rolls and Fat Quarters in mind. It includes two size options and endless opportunities to make it your own.

I'm away to the sewing machine to keep stitching on those secret projects - and counting down the days til I can tell you more about them.

I hope that you have a wonderful week and find some creative time - and maybe your own secret sewing projects!

Happy sewing!

A little note on affiliate links: some of the links included in this newsletter are affiliate links. It doesn't add anything to the cost of the item to you, but it helps me pay those upkeep bills on our high maintenance chickens ;)

Click here to view this email in your web browser Hey Reader! The other day I realised it's been a year since we built my studio! I've shifted things around, changed the setup a bit, added a longarm machine, and spent many, many hours playing with fabric, sewing and designing since then. Basically it's my happy space. For those who may not have seen it, I did a series of videos on YouTube showing the progress. This one's the big reveal when everything was all set up. Essentially we built a...

Click here to view this email in your web browser Hey Reader! Carnival of Flowers has arrived here in Toowoomba - so September is all about the blossoms and the blooms. It seems I have absorbed that, perhaps somewhat subconsciously, or maybe I just really like sewing flowers ;) But I have some flowery goodness to share! First up - I got the binding on my Tilda Embroidery Flower quilt and it's complete! We even popped down to one of the local gardens for some photos. The gardens were full of...

Click here to view this email in your web browser Hey Reader! Spring has arrived here in Australia and all the flowers are starting to bloom. Near where I live in Toowoomba, each year they have the Carnival of Flowers. Toowoomba is known as the Garden City, but it's next level when it's Carnival! It's a huge event with the stunning gardens and flowers as the centrepiece. With this happening, I figured it was an excellent time to get my Tilda Embroidery Flower quilt finished so that I could...
