If you love modern quilting, particularly foundation paper piecing, this is the newsletter for you! You'll find a dose of rainbow, a little creative shenanigans and a bunch of quilty chatter coming your way each week.
Birthday weekend is now complete! I celebrated on Friday with morning tea with my wonderful family. I had grand plans for some serious sewing time in the arvo (translation: afternoon) with my new Featherweight machine (hello perfect birthday gift!), but it got slightly derailed. But by a good event.
My youngest got her L's! For the non Aussies, that's the learner's licence. At 16, once they pass an online test, they can get their L's (so called as they have to display L plates on the car while driving), and then have to log 100 hours of driving over the next twelve months. 100 hours might not sound a lot... but... it's a lot. So we wanted to get started!
Instead of coming home to sew, we went to a carpark for my gal's very first driving lesson. She did great! Even came back the next day to ask to go driving again. 2 hours down... 98 to go ;)
I also have to share the beautiful painting this talented kid of mine did as a surprise for my birthday! Here's a lil snap with my painting (and a background of my Tilda flower quilt - which is now finished btw!).
β
Look at those chickens! My gal painted this showing our two oldest chooks - Anihen Skywalker (the brown one) and Obi Hen Kenobi (the white one). She did such a fabulous job on it - it's now sitting on the windowsill in my studio to admire!. I certainly wouldn't be able to recreate our silkie chickens in paint like that! I haven't even attempted a silkie chicken as an FPP pattern. Though I do have a regular chicken pattern in case you want to sew a little chook or two of your own!
So that's my birthday out of the way - but we're not done celebrating! I thought you might like a lil discount to shop the shop and find some patterns for a lil fun sewing of your own!
Head to the shop, find some fave patterns to add to your cart, then use the discount code "bday" at the checkout to save 15% on all PDF patterns in the shop! Be quick, sale is for one week only!
More birthday fun! 3 years of Make Mine Mini - and three years of foundation paper piecing fun! We're celebrating with all kinds of goodness. First we have the sewing themed patterns - our Tools of the Trade, plus a lil birdie perched upon a spool (both come in multiple sizes).
β
Then you get a big script alphabet not available anywhere else. Both the uppercase and lowercase alphabets are all yours for free when you join in September for our birthday!
β
Plus...
I just popped in one more extra good goodie - because really, what's a birthday without cake? You can have your cake and eat it too! Okay, you can't actually eat this cake, but you can have it as a pattern to keep when you join us in Make Mine Mini this month!
If you love to foundation paper piece, want to receive new patterns each month, get a special discount AND access to otherwise unreleased patterns? Well you know what to do. Click that button!
Now it's September, I feel like we can properly discuss the approach of the spooky season. If you're thinking about a bit of Halloween sewing, might I tempt you with this lil free FPP 6" ghostie?
β
This spooktacular sew is fun, fast and it's free. Mind you, it's hard to stop at one and you might soon be sewing a whole boo crew of these!
I'm a part of a beautiful big botanic collaboration with 15 other designers! Wonder if you can guess which block is mine?
I mean, I feel like it's obvious given my love of wreath blocks, but hey look, this peacock picked it!
16 designers + 16 blocks + a variety of techniques = one epic sampler quilt! And it's available now - but only for a very limited time! If you'd like to pre-order your botanic bundle, don't dilly dally. Once September's gone, so is this chance!
I think this pattern may have been one of the most popular from all of last year in Make Mine Mini! It's been exclusive to members, but now it's out in the big wide world and ready for you to snap it up in the shop!
Potted Plants is a fun paper pieced pattern featuring a big range of plants and flowers in perfect little pots just waiting for some fussycutting! It comes in three sizes - 15", 16" and 18". And you can use the birthday discount code on it! Just pop in "bday" at the checkout to save.
I've been a little remiss on sharing about our Pantry Block of the Month! But with new patterns having just arrived to the Block of the Month, it's a good time to mention it!
β
Jars, tins, bottles, and a whole bunch of fruit and veg to fill up these containers to make the ultimate mix and match picnic quilt! Or a table runner, or a market tote bag, or a cute little cushion... Options abound!
The BoM has started, but you can still join in and catch up on all the patterns released so far. It's a bunch of foundation paper piecing fun, with a choose your own adventure flavour!
I'm off to spend some quality time with the new Featherweight - and also to work on quilting my Tilda Embroidery Flower Quilt! I'll share more on that next newsletter, but after 2268 2.5" squares and all those seams, all I can say right now is... wish me luck!
Have a wonderful week, and I hope you find time for a bit of sewing and fabric fun!
Happy sewing!

Click here to view this email in your web browser Hey Reader! The other day I realised it's been a year since we built my studio! I've shifted things around, changed the setup a bit, added a longarm machine, and spent many, many hours playing with fabric, sewing and designing since then. Basically it's my happy space. For those who may not have seen it, I did a series of videos on YouTube showing the progress. This one's the big reveal when everything was all set up. Essentially we built a...
Click here to view this email in your web browser Hey Reader! Carnival of Flowers has arrived here in Toowoomba - so September is all about the blossoms and the blooms. It seems I have absorbed that, perhaps somewhat subconsciously, or maybe I just really like sewing flowers ;) But I have some flowery goodness to share! First up - I got the binding on my Tilda Embroidery Flower quilt and it's complete! We even popped down to one of the local gardens for some photos. The gardens were full of...
Click here to view this email in your web browser Hey Reader! Spring has arrived here in Australia and all the flowers are starting to bloom. Near where I live in Toowoomba, each year they have the Carnival of Flowers. Toowoomba is known as the Garden City, but it's next level when it's Carnival! It's a huge event with the stunning gardens and flowers as the centrepiece. With this happening, I figured it was an excellent time to get my Tilda Embroidery Flower quilt finished so that I could...
