I've talked and teased enough about the new book themed pattern - and I'm happy to say... it's here! My teenage gal and I braved the cold (well the Queensland version of cold at 11C (51F)) to snap some photos in the local park. The dream was for a moody, dark library or bookshop for photos - alas we did not find anything like that locally, so the park was the next best thing because it's just so pretty. We were delighted to see the snowdrops and daffodils have started blooming, so you might spot a few in our quilt photos!

My version of the pattern is made with the new collection from Sarah Watts (Ruby Star Society) called Fire Glow. it's the most delicious line with metallic accents. I finished it off with an E2E design (also by Sarah) that goes with Fire Glow. there's nothing about this quilt that I don't love!

Just wanted to say a thank you for the warm wishes for my son's new adventure starting in the Australian Army. He is officially enlisted and as we speak, he is starting his Basic Training. He's my eldest and the first to leave the nest which is not always easy for the mama bird! However I think it's quite something to know what you want to do with your life at eighteen years of age, and to choose to serve your country. I'm very proud of him and the way he is chasing his dreams. I'm also counting down the days til our first phone call to find out how he's going!
In the meantime, I'm off on -my- big adventure to Norfolk Island for the Fussycutters Patchwork Retreat! The perfect distraction! I'm looking forward to lots of sewing, a bunch of laughs, and learning a little bit about this remarkable island!

It was such a wonderful retreat, and we loved having extra tours and sightseeing mixed in to our sewing time. In fact, Ange (from GnomeAngel) and I enjoyed it so much, we're planning to do it again next year! The island is such a beautiful community - everyone waves as you pass them driving, cows have right of way, chickens wander freely, tourists are welcomed...
