If you love modern quilting, particularly foundation paper piecing, this is the newsletter for you! You'll find a dose of rainbow, a little creative shenanigans and a bunch of quilty chatter coming your way each week.
I had hoped to share my first forays into longarm quilting this newsletter but alas things don't always go to plan. We had a few issues during the setup with the tablet (that operates the computerised component) not working correctly, so we had to send for a replacement. It's due to be set up this afternoon! So hopefully some progress photos next newsletter, my friends!
But don't despair, I have plenty of other things to tell you! I even got stuck in and created a new video to share some hints and tips on foundation paper piecing. This time, I'm sharing some of my favourite tools and notions that I use to make FPP just that little bit easier.
I have a list of things to share about FPP, but I thought I'd ask you what you want to know about foundation paper piecing. Whether you're new to this technique or a confident piecer, if you have a few minutes to share your thoughts in this lil survey, I'd be ever so grateful! There's a lil discount at the end for when you've completed it!
Want to combine your love of reading and quilting? Then Make Mine Mini is the place for you with March's patterns featuring book shelves, vases, and a bunch of FPP fun!

I went with two of my favourites in my version - fussycutting and using tone on tone prints. Naturally I had to make a whole big rainbow. But this would also be super fun in a bunch of different colours. In fact, I mocked up some different colourways to share! (If only I had more time to sew all of these!)
Join us in March and make these patterns yours. You get this main pattern in three sizes - 15", 16" and 18", plus a companion pattern featuring a single little book that comes in four sizes - 5", 6", 8" and 10".
Plus you'll get an alphabet pattern, access to a Secret Squirrels shop of unreleased patterns, a discount to use on all FPP patterns, plus an invitation to join a beautiful and supportive community of fellow FPP lovers!
There's a new pattern in the shop! With a lovely iris in the centre, a clover for luck, plus a lil snail and bee, you have all the components to make a cute little garden scene!
This pattern comes in three sizes - 15", 16" and 18" and all foundation paper pieced. You can find it in the shop by clicking the button below.
We've just hit publish on the latest issue of Make Modern! Issue 69 has arrived - with over 100 pages full of articles, columns and ten fun quilting patterns from designers around the world.

If you're looking for a bunch of inspiration and quilty goodness, go grab the latest issue. It's all digital, so you can download and read wherever you are in the world. No waiting, no taking up space in your sewing room. Just happy reading! ;)
I get asked a lot what software I use for designing foundation paper piecing patterns - and the answer is always the same EQ8. I've been using Electric Quilt since 2013 and I find it's the best option for me. I use it both for FPP as well as regular quilt design - sometimes just to plan out colours and fabric! I love it so much I signed up as an affiliate - which means I hear about when sales are popping up (and get a small commission if someone purchases via the link).
So when I saw that there's a BIG sale for National Quilting Month this month I wanted to share it with you. From now until the 21st March, you can save 20% off site wide! Just use code QUILTING at the checkout. (Please note, EQ subscriptions and classes are excluded from sales).
Need a lil more quilty inspiration? Let me add to that by sharing some of the fun finds I've come across in my internet travels. Click on the pic to go straight to the link :)
I am off to do a bit of sewing - I have a bunch of orphan blocks that really ought to be turned into quilt tops. Given I now have a longarm, I'm going to need lots of practice!
I hope that you're having a wonderful week and finding some time for sewing, playing with fabric, and indulging in some creativity.
Happy sewing!

P.S. If you have a few moments, I'd love if you could share your thoughts in my lil survey!
A little note on affiliate links: some of the links included in this newsletter are affiliate links. It doesn't add anything to the cost of the item to you, but it helps me pay those upkeep bills on our high maintenance chickens ;)

Click here to view this email in your web browser Hey Reader! Finally, the weather here has started cooling and it feels like we're properly into Autumn here in Australia. The leaves have started changing colour which is one of my favourite things about where I live. Having grown up on the coast where that didn't happen, it's a delight to see the shift from green to reds and pinks! I've designed quite a few patterns over the years featuring leaf designs - but my favourite is the big bundle -...
Click here to view this email in your web browser Hey Reader! With Mother's Day coming up this weekend, I thought I'd share a little snap of my mum, Carolyn, and me! She's my biggest cheerleader - and if you're in any of the Quiet Play FB groups, she'll be one of your biggest cheerleaders too!. She's not just the reason for my existence ;), she's also the person responsible for me starting quilting. About 15 years ago, I casually mentioned I'd like to learn how to quilt. Next thing, Mum went...
