🌈 Rainbow Ramblings πŸ“–πŸ€

There's a little bit of excitement here at QP HQ. I've been thinking about it for a long while, and mulling over it all, and I made a big decision. I bought a longarm! I'm all about piecing quilt tops and that's where my journey stops. I hate the actual quilting part. It's such a huge hurdle for me. So I have oodles of blocks and quilt tops that are neglected and unfinished and stashed away in the cupboard. It's time to change that!

I'm the proud new owner of a Handiquilter Moxie XL! Yay! I also splurged and got the Pro-Stitcher as part of the package while HQ Australia had a sale on. I have zero interest in custom quilting, ruler quilting, free motion etc, but pretty pantographs? That is totally for me!

I'm stoked now I have the space in my sewing studio to fit it in! The new machine is only just set up, so I'm on a steep learning curve but I hope it means I can share a whole lot more -finished- projects with you in the near future (just probably don't look too closely til I've got the hang of it!). I have at least ten quilt tops waiting for a bit of E2E treatment that I can practice and learn on. I'm excited!

But now onto the rest of the quilty news I have to share with you this newsletter!

Let's make mini!

New month means new patterns arriving in Make Mine Mini! This is one for my fellow book lovers. I've gotten back into reading this year - trying to be more deliberate about carving out some time to read - and listening to audiobooks while I'm sewing helps (romantasy is my fave genre currently!). So with reading on the mind, I decided we needed some book blocks for Make Mine Mini!

Here they are!

The main pattern features a bookshelf with some little vases of flowers. It comes in three sizes - 15", 16" and 18". The companion pattern is a simple little book perfect for some fussycutting! It also comes in multiple sizes - 5", 6", 8" and 10". That means you can choose which of your favourite fabrics will fit the cover of the book!

Not only do members get two brand new patterns, they also get a bunch of other goodies - an exclusive discount, a secret squirrels shop, a supportive community, plus a whole alphabet pattern to keep and love. And I'd love to invite you to join us!

Here's what one of our lovely members has to say about Make Mine MIniL

"I love these patterns! Not only are they super cute and creative, but they're also very well written and easy to follow. And on top of awesome patterns, the membership gives you access to previous patterns and helpful how-to video content. So worth it!"

A lil luck!

St Patrick's Day is just around the corner, and if you'd like to sew your own luck, there are two patterns just waiting for you! A sweet little geometric four leaf clover, plus your very own pot of gold!

The clover comes in two sizes - 6" and 8", and the Pot o'Gold is in four sizes - 5", 6", 8" and 10". Can you tell I like to have lots of options? ;)

Flower Fun

With our March flower arriving a Year of Flowers, we're now a quarter of the way through our Block of the Month. And our talented makers are starting to sew them together and they just look so beautiful! Have a look at these pretties!

Top left is by Leah, top right by Pam, bottom left by Rachael, and bottom right by Martha.

I'm so excited to see how these pretty wreaths of flowers come together as we sew throughout the year.

Love to sew your own year of flowers? Come join us! You'll get the patterns released so far, and then our next flower comes out on the 15th March.

A lil show and tell

Richard K recently made the Bear Hug pattern - and not only did he make two cute little teddy bears, he added them to a picnic basket to create the perfect Teddy Bear's Picnic quilt! Isn't this adorable!

You can find the Bear Hug pattern in the shop - in case you need your own lil Teddy Bear's picnic!

Fun Finds

Need a lil more quilty inspiration? Let me add to that by sharing some of the fun finds I've come across in my internet travels. Click on the pic to go straight to the link :)

Critter Chatter

Thanks to my awesome sister-in-law, who has an endless supply of cute photos from her volunteer work at WA Wildlife, our Critter Chatter continues to feature cute Aussie animals! It's an awesome organisation that rescues and rehabilitates native animals. I shared one of this sweet possum previously, but look how cute this photo is with her reaching for some bush flowers!

This lil poss is a permanent resident at WA Wildlife and living her best life here. You can find out more, or donate to support these cuties by clicking the button below. Or if you live in or are visiting Perth in Western Australia, pop in for a tour and meet the resident animals- it's brilliant!

I'm off to play around with the new longarm machine. Maybe I'll have something to share next newsletter - no promises ;)

Hope you're having a wonderful week and finding some time for a bit of creativity!

Happy sewing!

A little note on affiliate links: some of the links included in this newsletter are affiliate links. It doesn't add anything to the cost of the item to you, but it helps me pay those upkeep bills on our high maintenance chickens ;)

Click here to view this email in your web browser Hey Reader! Finally, the weather here has started cooling and it feels like we're properly into Autumn here in Australia. The leaves have started changing colour which is one of my favourite things about where I live. Having grown up on the coast where that didn't happen, it's a delight to see the shift from green to reds and pinks! I've designed quite a few patterns over the years featuring leaf designs - but my favourite is the big bundle -...

Click here to view this email in your web browser Hey Reader! With Mother's Day coming up this weekend, I thought I'd share a little snap of my mum, Carolyn, and me! She's my biggest cheerleader - and if you're in any of the Quiet Play FB groups, she'll be one of your biggest cheerleaders too!. She's not just the reason for my existence ;), she's also the person responsible for me starting quilting. About 15 years ago, I casually mentioned I'd like to learn how to quilt. Next thing, Mum went...

Click here to view this email in your web browser Hey Reader! Last week I opened the doors of The Pantry for a lil sneak peek for those on the waitlist. But this week? This week I've flung the doors wide and inviting you to jump on in and join us! Sew jars of jam, bottles of sauce (or cordial!), and tins of food in this six month Block of the Month. Over the course of six months, you'll collect six different containers and sixteen fruit and vege patterns - everything you need to mix and match...
