If you love modern quilting, particularly foundation paper piecing, this is the newsletter for you! You'll find a dose of rainbow, a little creative shenanigans and a bunch of quilty chatter coming your way each week.
I have a new video to share! I've put together some of my hints and tips for faster foundation paper piecing. We all know it's not a super fast technique but there's a couple things you can do to make it a lil faster and a bit more streamlined.
I'm making it a goal this year to try to get over my dislike of making videos, so that I can share these sorts of hints and tips. A video natural, I am not, but hopefully it might be a lil helpful in encouraging that love of FPP!
If there's something you'd like to know about FPP, or want me to share other hints and tips, hit reply and lemme know. Give me some accountability to keep trying this video malarkey! ;)
The Pantry doors open verrrrrry soon! So if you've been thinking about joining us, make sure you get on that waitlist! I'll be sending out a special earlybird discount to those on the waitlist and I'd hate for you to miss out!

It's the perfect Choose Your Own Adventure style quilt. You can mix and match the fruits and veges with the various containers. You can make a quilt (it's perfect for a picnic!), a table runner, or maybe potholders for your kitchen or to gift to your friends. So many options! But the only decision you have to make right now is to join the waitlist so you can save!
I have to say, I'm really enjoying having a long-arm machine to finish off my projects. I've been using it for cushions as well as quilts - and getting through that pile of quilt tops that has been building up over the past few years. I'm not always one to take things slow when it comes to new skills - I hate practicing something just for the sake of it. If I'm trying something new, I want it to be with a purpose. So instead of waiting til I had nailed the whole long-arming thing, I decided to jump in and long-arm my Year of Flowers quilt. And I'm thrilled with how it turned out!
I used the panto called Dandy Cloud by Sew Shabby - and I love how it echoes the shape and design of the framed flowers.
I've now gone back and started unpicking my Year of Flowers wreath that I had done a basic cross hatch on my domestic machine. Now I want to find the perfect panto to quilt it again! No one warned me about that aspect of getting a long-arm haha!

I also wrote up the instructions to create this version of the quilt in our Year of Flowers Block of the Month. So now there's an extra option on how to create these birth month flowers. The May flower has just been released, so if you'd like to come join us to sew your own Year of Flowers, we'd love to have you along!
We're sewing sleepy sloths, hibiscus flowers, and monstera leaves in Make Mine Mini this month! One of the things I wonder the most when I design the patterns, is what fabrics and colours will people use to create these blocks. I though I'd share a couple of the mockups of different colourings I came up with - even some without rainbow in them! ;)
Like to sew your own sloth? Come join us in Make Mine Mini and get these patterns straightaway! You could be sewing as soon as you've chosen your fabrics!
There's over 400 patterns in my shop - I know, I know, that's a lot of patterns! So unless you have endless time on your hands to scroll through, you might not have seen some of the previous patterns. So I thought I'd do a little highlight of a fave previous pattern - who knows, maybe it's just what you're looking for!

Being an Aussie and not having squirrels in our backyard here, I find them such fascinating little critters - and oh so cute! When I think of Autumn I think of a squirrel being the perfect thing to add to a pile of leaves. That's how my brain works - and that's how this pattern came into being. A cute little squirrel amidst a wreath of Autumn leaves! β The foundation paper pieced pattern comes in 3 sizes - 15", 16" and 18" square.
The Easter School holidays have ended here and we're settling back into routine. Well almost! My daughter is off on work experience this week which is exciting! She is starting to look towards what she wants to do when she finishes high school. She's thrown ideas around like astrophysicist, microbiologist, paleontologist - she's not sure what yet, but definitely something in STEM. Given my brain is not inclined that way at all, I'm excited to see where it will take her! So I'm looking forward to her reporting back from her work experience in a laboratory this week. I'm also starting to plan out some kind of science-y quilt for her upcoming birthday, more on that soon ;)
That's everything from QP HQ this week. I hope that you're having a lovely week and finding time to cut up some fabric and sew it back together again!
Happy sewing!

Click here to view this email in your web browser Hey Reader! Finally, the weather here has started cooling and it feels like we're properly into Autumn here in Australia. The leaves have started changing colour which is one of my favourite things about where I live. Having grown up on the coast where that didn't happen, it's a delight to see the shift from green to reds and pinks! I've designed quite a few patterns over the years featuring leaf designs - but my favourite is the big bundle -...
Click here to view this email in your web browser Hey Reader! With Mother's Day coming up this weekend, I thought I'd share a little snap of my mum, Carolyn, and me! She's my biggest cheerleader - and if you're in any of the Quiet Play FB groups, she'll be one of your biggest cheerleaders too!. She's not just the reason for my existence ;), she's also the person responsible for me starting quilting. About 15 years ago, I casually mentioned I'd like to learn how to quilt. Next thing, Mum went...
Click here to view this email in your web browser Hey Reader! Last week I opened the doors of The Pantry for a lil sneak peek for those on the waitlist. But this week? This week I've flung the doors wide and inviting you to jump on in and join us! Sew jars of jam, bottles of sauce (or cordial!), and tins of food in this six month Block of the Month. Over the course of six months, you'll collect six different containers and sixteen fruit and vege patterns - everything you need to mix and match...
