🌈 Rainbow Ramblings πŸ₯šπŸŒΌ

It's not too early to talk Easter right? I mean if you trust the grocery stores, we could have started talking about Easter back in January. That's when the hot cross buns started appearing here anyways! I don't know if hot cross buns are treats everywhere, but it just doesn't feel like Easter without them. Thankfully they make a gluten free option for those of us who gluten doesn't agree with, and they're nearly as good as the "real" thing.

Easter eggs, however, no need for a gluten free option, the real thing works just fine in this family ;) And while I've been guilty of having a few early Easter eggs, it got me thinking about sewing some too. The fabric version is guilt and calorie freeplus super fun to stitch up.

So as a lil Easter treat from me to you, here's a free pattern to get you started. It's a super cute 3" foundation paper pieced block. It's perfect for a wee bit of fussycutting or using your favourite fabrics. But I'll forewarn you, it's hard to stop at just one (just like real chocolate Easter eggs!).

Click this button and pop over and sign up to get this lil pattern sent your way. Don't worry, it won't make you receive the newsletter twice, the sign up is just the easiest way to make sure people who are interested get the emails about it :) Plus you can send your friends to the same sign up page and they can sew cute Easter eggs with you!

If you're not super confident on foundation piecing, or you'd like a few hints and tips on fussycutting, I've put together a video tutorial for this lil Easter egg pattern to help.

Darling Daisies!

Our newest flower has arrived in a Year of Flowers - and for April, we're sewing daisies! These lil flowers are tricky with so many petals but they're joyful and pretty. Plus I love that you can make it in a range of colours - although I went with traditional white for my rectangular version.

When you join us in a Year of Flowers, you get two versions of each flower each month. A rectangular version as shown above, plus a wedge version that joins together to create a beautiful wreath by the end of the year. For the wreath version I decided it needed to be a pink daisy!

Like to sew your own? Dive on in and you'll get access to the patterns already released so you can catch up sewing your own bouquet of flowers!

Critter Chatter

Thanks to my awesome sister-in-law, who has an endless supply of cute photos from her volunteer work at WA Wildlife, our Critter Chatter continues to feature cute Aussie animals! It's an awesome organisation that rescues and rehabilitates native animals. I've shared one of the koalas - here's another cutie. Because who doesn't love a koala?

You can find out more, or donate to support these cuties by clicking the button below. Or if you live in or are visiting Perth in Western Australia, pop in for a tour - it's brilliant!

I'm headed to spend some time with the sewing machine - might make a few more of those little Easter eggs! Don't forget to grab your free pattern to make your own!

Have a wonderful week - and make sure to carve out a lil creative time!

Happy sewing!

A little note on affiliate links: some of the links included in this newsletter are affiliate links. It doesn't add anything to the cost of the item to you, but it helps me pay those upkeep bills on our high maintenance chickens ;)

Click here to view this email in your web browser Hey Reader! Finally, the weather here has started cooling and it feels like we're properly into Autumn here in Australia. The leaves have started changing colour which is one of my favourite things about where I live. Having grown up on the coast where that didn't happen, it's a delight to see the shift from green to reds and pinks! I've designed quite a few patterns over the years featuring leaf designs - but my favourite is the big bundle -...

Click here to view this email in your web browser Hey Reader! With Mother's Day coming up this weekend, I thought I'd share a little snap of my mum, Carolyn, and me! She's my biggest cheerleader - and if you're in any of the Quiet Play FB groups, she'll be one of your biggest cheerleaders too!. She's not just the reason for my existence ;), she's also the person responsible for me starting quilting. About 15 years ago, I casually mentioned I'd like to learn how to quilt. Next thing, Mum went...
